Fructuosus (also Fructuosus of Tarragona) ( January 21 † 259 ) was the first known Bishop of the Western Roman Tarraco ( Tarragona in Catalonia today ).

During the persecution of Christians under Valerian and Gallienus Fructuosus was thrown together with his deacons Augurius and Eulogius into prison and condemned to the stake as a martyr.


The hl. Fructuosus of Tarragona are dedicated to the following churches and monasteries:

  • Abbey of San Fruttuoso in Camogli in the province of Genoa (Liguria, Italy)
  • San Fructuoso Mártir in Colmenares de Ojeda ( Dehesa de Montejo ) in the province of Palencia (Castile and Leon, Spain)
