Fulton Oursler

Fulton Oursler, Fulton Oursler actually Charles, ( born January 22, 1893 in Baltimore, Maryland, † May 24, 1952 in New York City, New York) was an American journalist, writer, magician and ventriloquist.

Life

Oursler studied law but switched after a short time to journalism. After successfully completing his studies, he worked a day job for a long time as a freelance journalist for various newspapers and magazines. Between 1931 and 1942 he served as chief editor of Liberty Magazine, and in 1942 he was appointed to the publisher of Reader's Digest.

Reception

Since his studies Oursler could occasionally publish smaller stories and essays and so, with the years a remarkable literary oeuvre. In 1949, he then managed with the novel biography of Jesus of Nazareth economically and literary breakthrough.

His pseudonyms he kept strictly separated: Crime novels he used " Anthony Abbot ," art criticism or themes, general arts concerning, he published " Samri Frickell " (composed of the name Samri Baldwin and Wiljalba Frikell ) and all that magic, ventriloquism, etc concerned. was to see " Sandalwood the Magician ".
