Funastrum cynanchoides

Funastrum is a plant genus of the subfamily of milkweed plants ( Asclepiadoideae ) in the family of the dogbane family ( Apocynaceae ).

Features

The genus includes herbaceous, or halbstrauchige Winder and climbers. Rhizomes occur in some species. The latex is white and has a slight garlic odor. The stems are glabrous, or slightly hairy up close. The herbaceous leaves are persistent or obsolete. They are long and from 0.5 to 5 cm wide and 2-9 cm. The leaf shape ranging from oval to oblong- acuminate lanceolate.

Six to 18 flowers are in an inflorescence, which may be longer or shorter than the adjacent leaves. The flower stalk ( pedicel ) is hairy bald or weak. The hermaphrodite and five petals have a diameter 6-12 mm. The sepals are apically pointed oval to triangular. The corolla lobes are oblong or oval, oval - lanceolate and apically pointed or rounded. Often the edges are folded back. The flower colors range from white, cream, to green and yellow. The axes are labeled with a dark red to dark brown veining, to the edge they are hairy. The corona consists of a fleshy, non- lobaten ring at the junction of corolla and " Gymnostegium ". The five pocket-shaped Praise rest on the five stamens.

Individually hanging fruit have a length of about 5.0 to 8.5 cm long and a diameter of 1.0 to 2.5 cm. The brown seeds are from 2.5 to 8 mm long and from 1.5 to 4 mm wide. They are oval with an extended, mostly denticulate margin.

Dissemination

The genus is Funastrum beheimat exclusively in North and South America. You get there before in arid to semi-arid areas, plains, in the Pampas, on stony slopes at altitudes from sea level to about 1500 m.
