Fundulus sciadicus

The Fundulidae (Latin: " fundus " = bottom ) are a family of North and Central American Zahnkärpflinge ( Cyprinodontiformes ).

Features

The fish are 3 to 12.5 inches long. The 7-16 fin rays based dorsal fin is above the center of the body, the beginning of their members before or near the anal fin. The anal fin has 9 to 15 soft rays. The maxilla is not straight, but twisted. His inner, ventral to lying part facing forward and is often busy with distinct cusps.

Dissemination

They live in the waters of the North and Central American plains, north to the south-east Canada, Mexico ( Yucatan to ), Cuba and Bermuda. They preferred to keep in heavily vegetated waters. Some species of the genus Fundulus go in brackish water or coastal seawater.
