Funeral (album)

Funeral (English for burial ) is the debut album by Canadian indie rock band Arcade Fire. It was released on 14 September 2004 in North America and on 14 March 2005 in Germany. The album's title was given after the recording due to the death of several family members of the band members in a short time. The music was however not affected by this, however family is the central theme that runs through the entire album.

The album was recorded in the studio Hotel 2 Tango and the home of the band members Win Butler and Régine Chassagne in Montreal in a week in August 2003 and in winter 2004.

The album was praised by critics and listeners alike worldwide, and was nominated in 2006 for a Grammy in the Best Alternative Music Album category.
