Gabriel Fernández Ledesma

Gabriel Fernández Ledesma ( * May 30, 1900 in Aguascalientes, † August 26, 1983 in Mexico City) was a Mexican painter, sculptor and graphic artist.

Biography

Fernández Ledesma began his artistic training at the Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes in Mexico City. He was with Roberto Montenegro commissioned to design the Mexican Pavilion at the World Expo 1922 in Rio de Janeiro. From 1925 he taught at the Escuela Central de Artes Plásticas ( Central School of Fine Arts), founded a free school of sculpture and 1926 public art center Centro de Arte Popular in San Pablo. Fernández Ledesma was involved in the Exposicià Ibero Americana in Seville in the World Exposition 1929. During his work for the Secretaría de Educación Pública he conducted on behalf of 1938 in Paris, the exhibition " Art in the political life of Mexico ." In 1944 he received a Guggenheim Fellowship.

Under Fernández Ledesmas line mid -1920s, was first published in the magazine of Fine Arts, titled "Format ". He also published several books and was a founding member of the revolutionary painter " 30-30 " and the Liga de Artistas y Escritores Revolucionarios
