Gaetano Arfé

Gaetano Arfé ( born November 12, 1925 in Somma Vesuviana (NA ), † September 13, 2007 in Naples) was an Italian politician, journalist and historian.

Life

Arfé joined the Resistance in 1944 in a guerrilla group of the organization Giustizia e Libertà and joined in 1945 the Partito Socialista Italiano ( PSI) at. From 1966 on, he was for ten years editor of the PSI daily newspaper Avanti! .

Within the PSI he was from 1957 to 1982 and was a member of the Central Committee from 1979 to 1984 as a member of the ESP Group for the PSI to the European Parliament. There he met two particular resolutions on the protection of minority languages ​​(resolutions Arfé I and II Arfé ).

After his discharge from the PSI, he was elected in 1987 as Independent on the list of PCI in the Senate.
