Origin

As with many Silesian nobility, the origin is not fully understood even at the family Gaffron. Johann Sinapius, the Silesian nobility expert of the 17th century, suspected a connection to the Polish noble families Gawroński ( Gawrony ). This idea is not taken up by relevant Polish standard works. Documented is a Polish descent undetectable. From heraldic point of view this is also practically ruled out. The coat of arms of Silesian Gaffron (two buffalo horns on red plate) is not among the Polish Ancestral Arms and the mentioned Polish families Gawroński lead them completely different coat of arms ( Rawicz, Rola and Świnka ). In the German standard works, therefore, a connection to Poland was discarded. The family appears with location reference in Silesia for the first time in 1358 in Groß Wartenberg in Lower Silesia: Przibko of Gaweron sold his estate Buschka in Wartenberg district to Thamo of Hayn The earliest evidence comes from 13 ( certificate Duke Konrad I of oil and Cosel Bytom. ) December 1329: . Werner von Pannwitz gives income of his estate Naselwitz, Circle Nimptsch, at a nunnery in Wroclaw, witnessed among others by Janco Gavron applies Given the early appearance in the district of Gross Wartenberg ( Duke Boleslaw III certificate of Liegnitz. . ) the situated therein Gaffron as family estate of the family. On October 15, 1840 Hermann was charged by Gaffron - Oberstradam on Kuhnern in the Prussian baron.

Partly members can be found in the 17th century still in: Dalbersdorf ( to 1663 ), Czech Ermin (up to 1678) and Domtaschine (until 1694 ). Most but increased from the dispossessed nobility. An exception Berger presented the Munster branch of the family is: Sigmund von Gaffron - Oberstradam left the Greater Oels and disappeared in 1628 on the estate Haltauf in a circle Münsterberg, which he bought in 1639 by the parents of his wife Anna of Saurma - Jeltsch. His son, Max (1632-1677) died early in the Austrian military service, which is why his son Adam Abraham should be raised Catholic. To get around this, he joined the Danish army.
