Gagik I of Vaspurakan

Gagik I. (* 904, † 937) was an Armenian prince and later king of Vaspurakan of the dynasty of Artsruni.

He turned his capital in Achtamar, an island in Lake Van. The palace chapel, the Church of the Holy Cross has been preserved until today.


The main source for his reign is the unknown continuator of the chronicle of Thomas Artsruni from the 9th century.
