The meadow diamonds capsule tensioner ( Gagitodes sagittata, formerly Perizoma sagittata ) or meadow diamond blade tensioner is a butterfly (moth ) from the family of the tensioner ( Geometridae ).

Features

Butterfly

The wingspan of the moth is about 26 to 34 millimeters. The forewings have a red-brown to caramel brown color, medium and root field are framed monochrome black and brown of fine white lines. From the midfield, a large jagged jumps arrow-shaped front saumwärts, a white spot is in its extension. The white gray hind wings show an indistinct dark transverse line as well as a small dot in the middle. The very striking and characteristic drawing of butterfly is unmistakable. Specimens with white in the middle interrupted mid-band are as f.interrupta Hirschke called.

Caterpillar, and chrysalis

The caterpillar is light green and has eye-catching dark green lateral beads and side stripes. The doll is short, thick and green with two divergent bristles on the cremaster.

Occurrence

The main distribution of the species is located in East Asia, such as Japan, Korea, China and the Kuril Islands and in North and Central Europe. It prefers moist areas and rises in the Alps up to 1500 meters.

Way of life

The caterpillars feed on the flowers and fruits of meadow rue ( Thalictrum ). They live in August and September. The pupae overwinter, sometimes twice. The moths are nocturnal and fly from mid-June to mid-August.

Endangering

In Germany, the species occurs only sporadically and is ( " endangered " ) on the red list of endangered species in Category 2 out, in Baden- Württemberg, Mecklenburg -Western Pomerania, Lower Saxony and Saxony- Anhalt even in category 1 (" in danger of extinction "). In North Rhine -Westphalia it is considered extinct or lost.
