GameTrailers

GameTrailers (GT ) is a website that specializes in video game related content. It offers free access to reviews, previews, game trailers and recorded game play videos. Many of the video clips are in high definition (resolution: 960x540 ), along with standard-definition (resolution: 640x360 ) available.

Users can upload videos, create blogs and participate in forums. Users can also create groups for video games and other interests, which groups have access to private forums. Gametrailers had first a currency called GameTrailers Dollars ( GTD ), which could be earned only if the interaction with the site and was used to purchase digital items and real merchandise products. This currency was replaced by a new currency called GameTrailers Points (GTP ).

History

Gametrailers.com was founded in 2003 by Geoff Grotz and Brandon Jones. Jon Slusser and his company Hornet Animation invested in the startup and Jon was Chief Executive Officer. The company was acquired in November 2005 for an undisclosed sum of MTV.

2007 MTV Networks restructured its entertainment division, which iFilm.com and SpikeTV.com were conflated into Spike.com and were bundled together with Gametrailers and Xfire in the Spike Digital Entertainment. Jon Slusser was Senior Vice President, Geoff Grotz Vice President of Product Development and Brad Winters, the new GM ( General Manager) of Gametrailers.com.
