Gamma Ursae Majoris

Phekda, also Phecda, Phegda, Phekha, Pachd, Phacd or Phad ( from the Arabic فخذ / Fahd /, leg '), is the name of the star Ursae Majoris γ (Gamma Ursae Maiori ). It has an apparent magnitude of 2.43 mag and belongs to the spectral type of A0Ve. Its distance from the Earth is 84 light-years.

With 4 other cars of the 7 bright stars Phekda belongs to the so-called group of bears, a moving pile of over 100 stars distributed over half the sky. Our sun is in the range of this group, but moves in a different direction.
