Ganda (Angola)

Province

Ganda is a small town in the Angolan province of Benguela and also the name of a Munizips ( comparable to a German district ), whose main town it is.

To the north it borders the municipalities Munizip Ganda Bocoio and Balombo, the east with the municipalities located in the province of Huambo Tchinjenje, Ukuma and Longonjo, to the south by the municipalities Caconda and Caluquembe and to the west by the Munizip Cubal.

Ganda is located on historic Benguela railway, which with the provincial capital and the port city of Lobito Benguela, Huambo, and with, the second largest city of Angola, connected the city. Until the independence of Angola in 1975, the city bore the Portuguese place name Mariano Machado.
