Gapping

Gapping (also: gap formation ) is a term in linguistics, especially syntax, and referred to the omission of a actants or the predicate coordination under conditions (see parataxis ). The term was originally coined in 1970 by John Robert Ross as part of the generative transformational grammar, but is also common among functionalists.
