Garango Department
Garango is a city ( commune urbaine ) and a department in the West African nation of Burkina Faso, in the region of Centre- Est and the province Boulgou. The city is located north of the mountain Boulgou and has 71 408 inhabitants.
Geography
Garango covers an area of about 79 km ². The city is divided into seven sectors and contains 14 villages ( quartiers traditionnels ). The association came at the direction of the military authorities in 1958. 1960 was Garango seat of a sub-prefecture. A law of 1982 rose Garango to the city, this law was implemented in early 1983 by the appointment of a Préfet Maire. On 8 October 1999, the city limits were redefined. Garango was over in 1983 it decreased slightly.
Garango is the seat of Naaba ( " Elector ", currently governed Naaba Koom ) and capital of the Bissa, who immigrated in the early 19th century.
