Gardenian

Gardenian is a Swedish melodic death metal band from Gothenburg, which was founded in 1996, in the meantime disbanded in 2004 and reunited in 2013.

History

Gardenian was founded in April 1996 by drummer Thim Blom and singer / guitarist Jim Kjell. Following guitarist Niclas Engelin and bassist Håkan Skoger joined the band. Later in 1996 the band recorded the first demo and sent it to Listenable Records, which the band was finally able to reach an agreement. They booked the Studio Fredman in the same year, so that the band could record their first studio album.

In 1997 Gardenian released the debut album Two Feet Stand Following the publication of the band was due to the lack of interest of the label Listenable Records barely active. At this time, Niklas Engelin the band decided to join In Flames to go with them on tour. Due to the lack of interest of the label, the band contact with Listenable Records decided to cancel, so that the band could now decide for themselves. However, bassist Håkan Skoger felt not ready for, so he focused more on his other project Head Plate.

A short time later, the band signed a contract with Nuclear Blast. In 1999 Gardenian recorded the second album called Soul Burner, which was again recorded at Studio Fredman. On this album could be heard as a guest singer Eric Hawk (ex - Artch ) and Sabrina Khilstrand (ex -Ice Age). After Soulburner was published Gardenian went with bands such as In Flames, Dark Tranquillity, Children of Bodom, Hypocrisy, The Kovenant and Evereve on tour.

In 2000 the band recorded their third studio album Sindustries. The album was recorded at Abyss Studio and produced by Peter Tägtgren. Shortly after the release of Sindustries to Gardenian felt disappointed, so that the band of the label is separated by the poor treatment by Nuclear Blast. In 2003, the line- up of the band changed greatly, so they disbanded in 2004.

After the band had a gig at the Gothenburg Sound Festival in January 2013, the members decided to make music together again. The band stated also, already working on new songs. However, is unknown, when to begin with the recordings and how the new album will sound like.

Style

Gardenian play classic Melodic Death Metal and compared with other bands of the genre such as At the Gates. Characteristic is also the high pace of play, which is alternating with slower passages. Throughout the band's history, the sound of the band has changed slightly. Thus, in later works increasingly clear vocals heard, instead of growls initially used and the later works also sound less aggressive.
