Garry Gross

After studying at Colorado State University Gross was soon successful as a fashion photographer whose work has appeared in magazines such as Gentlemen's Quarterly, Cosmopolitan and the New York Magazine. He made portraits of celebrities such as Calvin Klein, Gloria Steinem, Whitney Houston, and Lou Reed.

Gross collaborates with the Center for animal behavior in New York and in 2002 to become a certified dog trainer. Photographs of dogs eventually became his specialty. His work has received numerous awards, including the Art Directors Club.

Gross was known primarily for nude photographs, which he anfertigte of 1975, the then ten -year-old Brooke Shields with the consent of their mother, showing Brooke Shields naked and painted in various poses in a bathtub. These photographs not only attracted great attention in the press, but have also been shown in prestigious museums such as the Tate Modern Gallery and the Guggenheim Museum. Brooke Shields tried to get later in a dispute the rights to these images, but lost in court.
