Gary Foster (musician)

Gary Foster ( born May 25, 1936 in Leavensworth, Kansas) is an American jazz musician ( alto saxophonist, clarinetist, flutist ) of modern jazz.

The strongly influenced by Lee Konitz, Gary Foster graduated in 1961 from his studies at the University of Kansas and settled in the area around Los Angeles where he worked in the Hollywood studios, as well as a teacher and in big bands; In the late 1960s he played with Warne Marsh in Clare Fischer ( listening to their album " thesaurus " 1968 ), played after an episode of only private sessions in Warne Marsh Quartet, with whom he causing the sensation album recorded Ne Plus Ultra. In the 1970s, Foster played in the Toshiko Akiyoshi / Lew Tabackin Big Band ( Insights, 1976), with Marty Paichs Dek - Tette and again with Clare Fischer.
