Gary Hall Sr.

Gary Wayne Hall, Sr. ( born August 7, 1951 in Fayetteville, North Carolina, USA ) is a retired American swimmer.

The situation float Hall swam ten world records, eight of them in layers disciplines. He was the first man who swam the 400 yard positions under 4 minutes. Swimmers of the U.S. Olympic team, he participated in three Olympic Games (1968, 1972 and 1976 ).

In the Summer Olympics 1968 in Mexico City, he won the silver medal in the 400 m medley. In Munich in 1972, he became Olympic champion with the 4 × 100 m medley relay and won silver on the 200m butterfly. In Montreal in 1976, he received the bronze medal over 100 m butterfly.

Hall et al studied at Indiana University, where he trained under swim coach James Counsilman.

He was inducted into the International Swimming Hall of Fame in 1981.

His son, Gary Hall Jr., has also participated in three Olympic Games as a swimmer of the U.S. Olympic Team.
