Lighthouse Funkenhagen

In the years 1876-1878 about 120 meters was in Funkenhagen, from the shore, a lighthouse (Polish: Latarnia morska Gąski ) built, which is seen with a height of 50 meters well. He lit initially 35 km far, so it was after switching from petroleum to electricity in 1927, 43 km. The tower is built of red bricks.

1945, the optics was partially destroyed, since 1948, the plant is back in operation. Adjacent lighthouses are in Kolobrzeg ( Kolberg) and in Darłowo (Rügenwalde ). The tower is a tourist attraction today.

Nuclear power station

Since recently Gąski is available as a location for a new nuclear power plant back to the discussion after the plan seemed to be finished in late 2012. At that time, in addition to Gąski also Choczewo ( Chottschow, 1938-1945 Gotendorf ) and Żarnowiec ( Zarnowitz ) possible locations, starting at the Żarnowieckie lake had already in the 1980s, the construction of a nuclear power plant, but was then adjusted. Now they decided on Gąski and presented already a precise timetable to start-up on.

On the part of the policy you refer to an economic boom by the NPP for the region, which is one of the poorer of the Republic. The protest groups agree, however, that just would hinder economic development and investment, the nuclear plans. The tourism in the Baltic Sea beach is expected to decline, one expects a loss of work for 30,000 people.

With his first block the nuclear power plant to go into operation around 2020 until 2030, the full operation can then be recorded.
