Gasolin'

Gasolin ' was a Danish rock band from Copenhagen.

The band was formed by Kim Larsen ( born October 23, 1945), Franz Beckerlee ( born August 15, 1942) and Wili Jønsson ( born March 27, 1942) founded in 1969. The first drummer of the group - Bjørn Uglebjerg (21 March 1948 - 21 June 1994 ) - was replaced in 1971 by Søren Berlev ( * 4 May 1950). In this formation the band became in the 1970s the most popular rock group in Denmark today.

Music style

Your first singles in English 1970 - " Silky Sally" ( Smukke Linda ), "Child of the institution " and " Johnny The Jackpot" but were a flop. The success was only when the band in 1971 " ' Gasolin ' released her first album in Danish. Even later attempts with English lyrics " foothold " internationally were not very successful.

Between 1972 and 1978, was Gasolin ' the most popular rock band in Denmark; in this period that under the producer Roy Thomas Baker ( Queen, among others ) Danish classics like the albums " Gasolin ' 3" ( 1973) or " Efter endnu en dag " (1976). After the rock band gave her farewell concert in August 1978 in Malmö, they broke up in the fall of 1978; isolated joint live performances by the band, however, are also known from the following years. After the resolution was especially Kim Larsen in his solo career and with other bands successful: his album " Midt om natten " (1983) is the best selling Danish at all.

2006 was a produced by Anders Østergaard documentary about the former rock group the most successful documentary in Denmark, before the CD editions " Rabalderstræde Forever" (1991) and " The Black Box " (2003) to a great seller in Denmark were.

The first album cover and a single ( Langebro / Lilly- Lilly) were designed by Belgian comic artist Hergé.
