Gathering speed is the fourth studio album by the English progressive rock band Big Big Train. The CD was released in March 2004.
Content
Gathering Speed is a concept album about the fate of a British fighter pilot ( and his family ) in the Battle of Britain. BBT are still assigned to this album with the retro prog, but give it a shot modernity in the form of post-rock influences ( Sigur Rós, Mogwai ) to do so. It is the first release with new singer Sean Filkins. On some pieces Laura Murch interacts with as a singer.

The album was discussed broadly positive, the vocals of Sean Filkins was not always well received.
