English Boy Wonders is the second studio album by the English progressive rock band Big Big Train. The CD was released on 1 December 1997.

Content

Most of the songs on English Boy Wonders should deal with the declining bond in the relationship of a couple. Originally a concept album was planned, within the almost three years of development time, this concept, however, more and more blurred. As a guest musician Martin Orford 's (ex - Jadis ) listen to the keyboards and the flute. Ken Bundy contributes some background vocals.

Genesis and style

BBT intended the sound to Radiohead's album The Bends to orient. In 1995, the demo tape was completed for the album. The release of December 1997 did not have much in common with the demo. The band did not really know in which direction they wanted to develop, also located just a few recording sessions had revealed within the long period and at the end of the band had to feel delivered a semi-finished product. English Boy Wonders is a little more pop than the debut album advised but still attributable to the Neo -Prog.

Reviews

According to Gregory Spawton the album was not well received: "It was not well received by critics and disappeared without trace. " ( It was not good and went under without leaving a trace. ) It is only to find a criticism that refers to the original release.

Trivia

English Boy Wonders was played live only on very few concerts, among other things, on the ProgFarmFestival 1998.
