Gavriil Musicescu

Gavriil Musicescu ( born March 20, 1847 in Izmail, † December 8, 1903 in Iaşi ) was a Romanian composer.

Musicescu studied after the visit of the Theological Seminary in Husi 1864 to 1866 at the Conservatory of Iaşi and from 1870 to 1872 in Saint Petersburg. From 1872 he taught harmony at the Conservatory of Iaşi, which he headed from 1901. He was also normala 1899-1903 professor of music at Scoala. Between 1864 and 1866 he sang in the choir of the theater and the Municipal Choir of Iaşi, he also ran from 1876 to 1903.

He emerged as a composer of sacred and secular choral songs in which he processed Romanian folk melodies.
