Gavriil Pribylov

Gavriil Loginowitsch Pribylow also Pribilof (Russian Гавриил Логинович Прибылов, scientific transliteration Gavriil Loginovič Pribylov; unknown *, † 1796) was a Russian navigator.

From 1781 to 1786 Pribilof was the captain of the " Svyatoi Georgi " that belonged to the Russian - American Company. In 1788, he explored the Bering Sea and discovered the islands of St. George and St. Paul north of the Aleutian Islands. The archipelago was named in his honor in 1789 Pribilof Islands.
