Geassocieerde Pers Diensten

The Geassocieerde Pers services ( GPD ) is a Dutch news agency, based in The Hague. Are supplied in contrast to the other news agency of the country ANP exclusively regional newspapers in the Netherlands and Flanders. In addition to general news and background reports on business, sports, arts, media, entertainment and consumption are delivered in word and image. The agency employs about 80 editors and has 19 foreign correspondents.

Forerunner of the GPD were founded in 1936 by the directors of some regional newspapers " Vereeniging voor de Groote Provinciale Dagbladen " (later " Gemeenschappelijke Pers service " renamed) and was founded in 1964 " Stichting Pers Unie ", which originally comprised exclusively Catholic newspapers. On 1 January 1994 was formed by the merger of the two wire services, the new news agency and was given its present name.
