Gediz is a town and a district of the Turkish province of Kütahya. The city is located about 70 kilometers southwest of the provincial capital of Kütahya.

The district is located in the south of the province. It is bordered on the west by Şaphane, on the northwest by Simav and Hisarcik, on the north by Emet, on the northeast by Çavdarhisar, to the east by Aslanapa and Altıntaş and on the south by the province of Usak. The county town is situated on the highway D -240, which leads from Bergama on the Aegean coast to Kütahya. In the north of the district is a part of the mountain ridge Şaphane Dagi. To the east of the county at the Murat Dagi springs from the same river Gediz, the ancient Hermus, which flows into the Aegean Sea in the west north of Izmir.

1970 occurred in the region of an earthquake, in which the city was completely destroyed and then rebuilt.
