Gegenes Nostradamus is ( Hesperiidae ) is a butterfly of the family of Dickkopffalter.

Features

The forewing length is 15 to 16 millimeters. The top is pale brown and unmarked. The forewing underside is lighter with two or three white Diskalflecke. The hind wing underside is light brown sand, against the inner rim but whitish. The female has on the top of the front wing an angled row of white Diskalflecke consisting of very small at the front edge and larger in the cells 1b, two and three, which are also present on the bottom. On the underside of the hind wings are also indistinct bright Diskalflecken.

Geographic occurrence and habitat

Gegenes Nostradamus is distributed from the shores of the Mediterranean through the Middle East to Turkestan and India. It usually occurs in the coastal areas from 0 to 100 meters. However, in some Mediterranean mountains he climbs up to 1200 meters, in North Africa up to 1800 meters. The species is widespread, but is always very locally before. The moth lives on hot dry ravines and in the dry summer flood plains of rivers with little vegetation.
