Geir Ivarsøy

Geir Ivarsøy (* June 27, 1957; † 9 March 2006) was a Norwegian software developer.

Ivarsøy worked early 90s along with Jon Stephenson von Tetzchner and Håkon Wium Lie in a research group of the Norwegian state phone company (now Telenor ) in a Web browser. After the project has been set, Ivarsøy founded together with Tetzchner of 1995, the company " Opera Software " with the version 2.10 released the first version of the web browser Opera in December 1996.

Ivarsøy stayed together with von Tetzchner until January 2004 the Supervisory Board of the company, but was also active in the following years in the company.

Geir Ivarsøy died in March 2006 as a result of cancer.
