Geography
Neighboring towns are in the north Pödeldorf, Naisa, Litzendorf and Melkendorf (all community Litzendorf ), to the east Mist village (community Strullendorf ), in the south Rossdorf am Forst, Leesten and Werndorf (all community Strullendorf ) and to the west of Bamberg. Geisfeld is located southwest of the Geisberg.
History
On 1 May 1978, until then independent municipality Geisfeld was incorporated into the municipality Strullendorf.
Attractions
Barrow
There are early Celtic burial mounds on the state road between Geisfeld and Litzendorf. The group of hills lies partly in the forest. The diameter of the grave mound varies from 8 to 25 meters. During excavations in the 19th century material of the Bronze Age and the early Iron Age was salvaged.
Blood Fountain
Also on the main road there is the so-called blood fountain. The water of this source is very ferruginous, its taste resembles supposedly the blood.
Wendelinus oak
Are located on the forest path between Geisfeld and Melkendorf the remains of Wend Linus oak, also called thousand year old oak tree. The oak is said to have meaning as a cult icon.
Schlossberg
On the Castle Hill you can still see the outlines of a Carolingian- Ottonian fortification. The Schlossberg is a legend connected by cruel Count Giso. This is supposed to have a farmer who had to deliver his entire crop to Count, sent his car into the abyss. At the moment of death of the farmer, the castle of the Count should be zuammengefallen in itself.
