Amlingstadt

Amlingstadt is a municipality in the district of Strullendorf Bamberg in Upper Franconia, Bavaria with about 700 inhabitants.

Geography

It is located about seven kilometers southeast of Bamberg on the edge of the main bog forest. The site stretches roughly from west to east along the main road through a talförmiges area. He has nearly 700 residents and is assembled with the neighboring Werndorf. Amlingstadt lies at about 270 m above sea level. NN.

Geographical Development

The old town consists mainly of (former) farms and farm buildings along the main street. Especially the northern slope towards the town has spread in recent decades and is there primarily of single-family or small apartment buildings. The highest point of the North face also forms the structural boundary of the site. From there you can look back on Rossdorf am Forst and the foothills of the Franconian Switzerland.

History

In the 1970s, the foundations of a small single-aisled stone church were excavated in Amlingstadt, which is interpreted as one of the 14 churches of the Slavs Würzburg bishop Berowelf. With these churches end of the 8th century, the Slavs mission should be promoted in the Main and Regnitz region.

On 1 May 1978, until then independent municipality Amlingstadt was incorporated into the municipality Strullendorf.

Transport and Infrastructure

Amlingstadt is located on State Road 2188 in Bamberg and vice versa with interruptions ( the street name) to about Plank rock in the Franconian Switzerland. The nearest train station is in Strullendorf. Amlingstadt is connected by the transport with the lines 8220 and 8335 in Bamberg.

Education

In Amlingstadt there is a primary school, which works with the elementary school in Strullendorf and consists of the first to fourth class.
