Geographical Location
Plank rock is located in the Franconian Switzerland Nature Park.

History
The Lords of Plankenfels were first documented in 1217 and died in 1538 from. Place and castle Plank rock changed hands several times thereafter. Since the 17th century, the lords of Schlammersdorf in Plankenfels were established. The rule of the barons of Schlammersdorf came with the Act of Confederation in 1806 to Bavaria. Through the town led by a local train to Bayreuth Hollfeld. As a relic is even a non-functioning railway bridge available.
Incorporations
On January 1, 1972, the municipality Löhlitz and a part of the community Nankendorf were incorporated.
Spin-offs
On May 1, 1978 parts of the territory were ceded to the city Waischenfeld.
Population Development
On the territory of the municipality 2000 910 and 2012 877 inhabitants were 1970 914, 1987 798, numbered.
Policy
Mayor 's Luise Goldfuß ( choice group). It was the successor of Franz Will ( choice community) in 2002.

The municipal council ( election period in 2008 /14) has 8 members.
