Eckersdorf

Ecker Village is a community in the Upper Franconian district of Bayreuth. It is located immediately west of Bayreuth.

Geography

Geographical location

A large village Ecker village is located on the northern edge of the Franconian Switzerland, near the festival city of Bayreuth. The Sophie mountain is 593 m above sea level. Sea level, the highest point in the area.

History

Ecker village was mentioned for the first time in 1149 in Giechburgvertrag. The Counts of Andechs- Meranien were up to their extinction in 1248 in the possession of the current municipal area. The Lords of Plassenberg acquired 1420 first article in Ecker village and were a hundred years later, in the full possession. After their extinction in 1552 Ecker village came to the Lords of Lüchau until it fell in 1757 to the Margravate Bayreuth. As part of the Prussian Principality of Bayreuth since 1792 Ecker village came the Peace of Tilsit with France and Bavaria in 1810. In the course of administrative reform in Bavaria, was born with the congregation of 1818, the current community.

Incorporations

On 1 July 1972, the formerly independent municipality Neustädtlein was incorporated on forestry. On 1 May 1978 Busbach, Donndorf, ash and Oberwaiz were added.

Policy

Mayor

The former managing director Sybille Pichl (CDU Community ) was elected on 9 May 2010 with a score of 54.7 % of the vote for mayor. The counterparty Manfred Präcklein (SPD ) reached 45.3 % in the runoff. Deputies are Winfried Parchent (CSU ) and Wolfgang Haida (SPD). Pichl's predecessor was Klaus Hümmer (CDU community).

Structures

  • Duchess Elisabeth Friederike Sophie of Brandenburg -Bayreuth was the location in the district Donndorf Fantaisie Palace in the years 1758 to 1765 built by Johann Jacob Spindler. It houses the Spindler Cabinet, an inlaid piece of the brothers Johann Friedrich and Heinrich Wilhelm Spindler in a faithful reproduction of the original, which is located in Munich in the Bavarian National Museum.
  • Victory tower in the district Donndorf against the Fantaisie Palace.
  • In the district Neustädtlein am Forst is a former palace of the Margrave Georg Wilhelm von Bayreuth.
  • The Ecker villages Evangelical Lutheran Church of St. Giles comes in its present form with the tall pointed tower from the year 1791. The vestry at the east end of the church is much older ( 11th century ) and was originally consecrated as a chapel to St. Kilian. Until the 1791 reorganization the Kilianskapelle served as an altar room, some old frescoes have been preserved.

Museums

The castle houses a museum of garden art, which is operated by the Bavarian Administration of State-owned Palaces, Gardens and Lakes, and numerous sculptures and paintings of the German landscape gardening shows. In the castle park of 200 hectares, the three main styles of German garden art can be found. The oldest part of the plant dates back to 1763.

Personalities who have worked on site

  • Peter Oglethorpe (1939-2005), German politician ( SPD), publicist and communication scientists, lived from 1945 to 1959 in Eckersdorf.
  • Richard Wagner (1813-1883) lived from April to September 1872 Hotel Fantaisie besides the namesake castle to monitor from there foundation stone was laid and construction of his Festspielhaus and his house (Wahnfried ) in Bayreuth.
