Geography

Location

Hague is embedded in a gentle hilly landscape at the foothills of Lindenhardt Forst near the Rotmainquelle. The districts Obernschreez, Unternschreez and Gosen are located on the slopes of nearby Culm or Sophie mountain.

Name

The place name probably means Haag " of a forest, bushes or a hedge is hegter place ". The place name or partial name Schreez is derived from the Slavic word Sraz and refers to the slope of Mount Sophie, on the part of the municipality is located.

History

The Lords of Nankenreuth had from the 15th century until its extinction in 1613 the manor Schreez with Hague and Unternschreez. Castle Unternschreez was former markgräflicher widow seat. As part of the Prussian Principality of Bayreuth since 1792 Hague fell in the Peace of Tilsit in 1807 to France and came to Bavaria in 1810. In the course of administrative reform in Bavaria, was born with the congregation of 1818, the current community. On 1 May 1978, the municipality Schreez was created in 1939 by merging the municipalities Obernschreez and Unternschreez, incorporated to Hague.

Mayor is Horst Rauh ( CSU). He was re-elected in 2002, successor of John Lautner (CDU Community ) and in 2008 for a further term of office.

Economy, agriculture and forestry

It was in 1998 according to official statistics in manufacturing and 177 in trade and transport, no social insurance contributions at the workplace. Social insurance contributions at residence, there were a total of 308 in the manufacturing sector, there were four establishments in the construction operation. In addition, in 1999, there were 16 farms with an agricultural area of 297 hectares, of which 127 hectares of arable land and 170 acres of meadowland.
