Geißkopfhütte

The Geißkopf is a 1097 m high mountain in the Bavarian Forest.

The Geißkopf is of the width, an area which also includes width- bars, three Tannenriegel and Einödriegel belong. Located in Bishop corn mountain is used as a recreational area and has developed in recent decades increasingly for tourism. At the top is a mountain restaurant and a 23 -meter-high wooden observation tower that allows a magnificent panoramic view.

A few hundred meters from the summit is the Oberbreitenau, a clearing in the forest. Today it is managed by the Bavarian Forest Club Landshut house. 1585 the plateau was first settled by the workers settled in the lower width- Glashütte. After closing the cottage in 1755 only under the most difficult conditions for agricultural use Oberbreitenau remained inhabited for nearly 200 years. In the 1990s, the foundations of the houses were excavated and can be visited today.
