Gene Sperling

Gene B. Sperling ( born December 24, 1958 in Ann Arbor, Michigan) is an American economist. As the successor to Lawrence Summers, he is head of the National Economic Council ( National Economic Council ) in the White House. Previously, Sperling served as a consultant for Minister Timothy F. Geithner. Sperling is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.

Life

After visiting the Community High School in Ann Arbor Sperling graduated from the University of Minnesota with a BA in Politikwissenschaftem. He then earned a J. D. at Yale Law School and graduated from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. In the 1990s, Sperling worked for the governor of New York, Mario Cuomo.

During the first term of President Bill Clinton Sperling served as deputy director of the National Economic Council, which was then headed by Robert Rubin. When he was promoted to the Treasury of the United States, Sperling took over from 1996 to 2000 head of the Economic Council.
