General Assembly of Uruguay

The General Assembly of Uruguay ( Asamblea General ) is the legislative organ of the State Uruguay.

She is in a bicameral, consisting of the Chamber of Deputies ( Cámara de Representantes ) and Senate ( Cámara de Senadores ), divided and is located in the capital Montevideo in the Legislative Palace.

The meetings of the Asamblea General begin under Article 104 of the Uruguayan Constitution on March 1 of each year. If no elections are held, it closes the session on 15 December. In the case of elections to be completed this time, however, is shifted forward on the 15th September. In such a case, the session of the following year, then starts already on February 15.

The Chairman of the General Meeting shall be the Vice-President of Uruguay. This is in 2012 Danilo Astori. If after an election, no Vice President is determined, the line function takes a Senator that list (party) that has received the most votes.
