General Güemes, Salta

General Güemes is the capital of the departments General Güemes in Salta Province in northwestern Argentina. It is located 50 kilometers from the provincial capital of Salta. In the classification of municipalities in the province it belongs to the municipalities of the first category.

History

The city received its name in honor of the fighter for independence from Spain, Martín Miguel de Güemes ( 1785-1821 ).
