Genetics Society of America
The Genetics Society of America (GSA ) is a scientific society for genetics in the United States. 2006, the Company had 3422 members. It gives the scientific journals Genetics and G3: Genes out, Genomes, Genetics (Open Access journal, founded in 2011 ).
The GSA was established in 1931 on the meeting of the American Society of Zoologists in New Orleans as a reorganization of the Joint Section on Genetics of the American Society of Zoologists and the Botanical Society of America. L.C. Dunn became its first president. Current President (2012/2013) is Philip Hieter, its predecessor was 2011/2012 Paul W. Sternberg, his successor is 2013/2014 Michael Lynch. The GSA is a member of the International Genetics Federation.
