Gennady Voronov

Gennady Ivanovich Voronov (Russian Геннадий Иванович Воронов; * Augustjul 18 / 31 August 1910greg in Rameschki in Tver Oblast, .. † 1 April 1994 in Moscow ) was a Soviet politician and long-time member of the Politburo of the CPSU.

Life

Training and career

Voronov, a trained engineer who in 1931 joined the Communist Party of the Soviet Union ( CPSU ) and was from 1939 to 1948 and then Obkomsekretär Second Obkomsekretär ( Area Secretary), and from 1948 to first Obkomsekretär the area around Chita in Transbaikalia region.

It was followed by his promotion to the power centers of the Party: In 1952, he became a member of the Central Committee of the CPSU. From 1955 to 1957 he was Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the USSR from 1957 to 1961 First Obkomsekretär of Orenburg. In 1961, he was First Deputy Chairman of the Bureau of the Central Committee of the Russian party organization in the RSFSR and the same candidate of the Presidium of the CPSU Central Committee.

In the center of power

From October 31 1961 to April 27, 1973, he was finally a full member in the highest political body of the USSR, the Politburo ( 1952-1966 Bureau ) of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union ( CPSU ). He thus replaces younger " new hope " member of the Politburo from Aristov, and he " cleaned " the lead levels in the party of "too old" officials. Still, he was considered an expert on agriculture and yet he supported Khrushchev. But the policy of de-Stalinization, he accompanied as Brezhnev rather silently. After the overthrow of Khrushchev (1964 ), in which he was not involved, he supports the heavy industry. In the hierarchy of the powerful twelve members of the Politburo, he finished at that time a middle place.

1961 ( until 1962 ) he became First Secretary of the Bureau of the Central Committee for the Affairs of the Russian Republic ( RSFSR ) and 1962 Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Russian SFSR, which is the population most part Republic.
