Geordie (Band)

Geordie was an English rock band that existed from 1972 to 1983. The late AC / DC singer Brian Johnson began his career with this band.

Foundation

The English band Geordie was founded in 1972 by guitarist Vic Malcolm. His bandmates were the drummer Brian Gibson, bassist Tom Hill and singer Brian Johnson. At first they were called "USA", they named themselves after a slang term for their Northern England Northumberland home.

Achievements

In December 1972, their first single, " Do not do that " at number 32 of the English singles chart in March 1973 they landed with "All because of you " her only Top 10 hit in England ( number 6 ). The follow-up singles " Can you do it " (No. 13), " Electric Lady " (No. 32) and "Black Cat Woman " always had less success, in Germany even sooner than in their homeland. However, they were never even there in the Top 20 in 1976, they therefore resolved to provisionally.

New singer and resolution

Short of making a comeback attempt Brian Johnson went as a successor to the late Bon Scott to " AC / DC", his fellow musicians tried the new singer Terry Schlesser yet. Since them this time no breakthrough in 1983 came the final end for the band. " Geordie " played rock music, similar to that of their more famous compatriots " Slade " and " Mud".
