George Dalaras

Giorgos Dalaras (Greek Γιώργος Νταλάρας, also anglicized George Yorgos Dalaras or transcribed or Ntalaras; extremely stressed as Giorgos Dalaras, born September 29, 1949 in Piraeus, Greece) is a Greek musician.

He is the son of Loukas Daralas, a singer of the 1950s and 1960s. His music can be classified in the genres of Laika, the rebetiko and dimotiko. His father, his aunt and grandfather were musicians of Laika. In 1968 he recorded his first album. Since the release of his first record in 1969, he has recorded 50 albums of his own and contributed to about 40 others. Dalaras has already sold more than 10 million albums and has worked with almost all important Greek composers such as Mikis Theodorakis, Manos Chatzidakis, Apostolos Kaldaras, Stavros Koujioumtzis, Giannis Markopoulos, Manos Loizos and Stavros Xarchakos. He is considered one of the most characteristic and successful Greek singers of the last few decades.

2005 appeared the CD Sta Tragoudia pou sou GRAFO that was sold internationally under the title Shining Nights. In May 2007, Dalaras came after five years as part of his European tour in 2007 to Germany. In June 2009 he stood for the first time along with Maria Farantouri occasion of a Giannis Ritsos - tribute concert at the Berlin Philharmonic on stage.
