George Hagan (politician)

George P. Hagan ( born 1938 in Accra ) is a leading university professors and politicians of the Convention People's Party (CPP ) in Ghana. Hagan is married to Dr. Maria Hagan and has three children.

Training

Hagen visited his childhood in various schools in Accra, Koforidua, Sekondi and Kumasi, since his parents were often added as an employee in the Civil Service full-time at other locations. In Accra, he attended St. Thomas Aquinas Secondary School, where he made his Ordanary Level Certifiicate. Later he attended St. Augustine's for his Advanced Level Certificate in Cape Coast. At the University of Ghana in Accra Hagan studied philosophy and African Studies ( African Studies ) and graduated with a BA ( Hons. ) in Philosophy and the Master's degree in African studies from. From the Oxford University, United Kingdom him the doctorate was awarded in social anthropology.

Career as a high school teacher

In 1968, Hagan lecturer and research staff at the University of Ghana. In 1978, he was Senior Lectur 1984 and associate professor. In the academic year 1997/1998 Hagan was director of African studies. At several universities institutions he was involved, such as in the University administration or the committee for disabled students.

Political career

Hagan is known supporters of the first president of Ghana Kwame Nkrumah. He was a member of various organizations such as the State Construction Corporation. Hagan was representative of Ghana at the UNESCO Conference of Human Rights and a member of the Ghana Anti -Apartheid Committee. Hagan was in the presidential elections in Ghana 2000 Gegenkanditat the CPP of the incumbent president John Agyekum Kufuor (NPP ), but scored only 115 641 votes and thus 1.78 percent. In the CPP Hagan has held the party office of the flag carrier.
