George J. Borjas

George Borjas Jesus (* October 15, 1950 in Havana ) is an American economist and professor of economics and social policy at Harvard University. He publishes articles on the economic aspects of immigration.

Life

Borjas moved with his mother in 1962 by Cuba over to the United States of America, and received his Ph. D. in economics in 1975 at Columbia University. The economist was 1982-1990 Professor of Economics at the University of California and is a member of the National Bureau of Economic Research since 1983. Since 2002, the economist, Professor of Economics and Social Policy at Harvard University. The economics of immigration are his research focus. In 2011 he was awarded the IZA Prize in Labor Economics.
