George Newbold Lawrence

George Newbold Lawrence ( * October 20, 1806; † January 17, 1895 ) was an American businessman and Amateurornithologe, who described several species of birds first.

Spencer Fullerton Baird Together with John Cassin and he wrote the book " Birds of North America". His collection of about 8,000 bird skins he left the American Museum of Natural History. John Cassin named the Maskenzeisig (Carduelis lawrencei ) after him.
