George W. Chase

George William Chase ( * 1802 in Maryland, New York, † April 17, 1867 in Chase Ville, New York ) was an American politician. From 1853 to 1855 he represented the State of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

George William Chase was born in the beginning of the 19th century in Maryland in Otsego County. He attended community schools. He then worked in agriculture. In addition, he pursued commercial and Mahlgeschäfte in Schenevus. Politically he belonged to the Whig party. In the congressional elections of 1852 for the 33rd Congress Chase was in the 19th electoral district of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Willard Ives on March 4, 1853. He retired after March 3, 1855 from the Congress. After his conference time he returned to his former activities in agriculture, but also pursued his business activities. On April 17, 1867, he died in Chase Ville in Maryland Township and was then buried in the vault of the Chase family in the same cemetery in Schenevus. At the time of the Civil War was about two years too late.
