George Wyndham, 4th Earl of Egremont

George Francis Wyndham, 4th Earl of Egremont (* August 30, 1786, † April 2, 1845 ) was a British naval officer and peer.

George Francis Wyndham was the eldest son of William Frederick Wyndham, the youngest son of Charles Wyndham, 2nd Earl of Egremont. He joined the Royal Navy in 1799 and reached the rank of captain until 1812. In 1820 he married Jane Roberts, a daughter of Rev. William Roberts, Deputy Provost of Eton College. In 1837 he inherited from his late uncle George Wyndham without legitimate offspring, the title Earl of Egremont and Baron Cockermouth, the family estate Orchard Wyndham and other possessions in Somerset and Devon. In 1838 he began the construction of Blackborough House at Kentisbeare in Devon, which remained unfinished, however. He died in 1845 without issue, leaving his title lapsed with his death.
