Georges Depping
Georg Bernhard Depping ( born May 11, 1784 in Münster, † September 6, 1853 in Paris) was a Franco-German historian.
Georg Bernhard Depping 1803 accompanied a French immigrant to France, where he initially took place in Paris as a teacher at several educational institutions employment, then studied the new languages and for French and German magazines provided input. He died on September 6, 1853 in Paris, naturalized in France since 1827.
From his writings are to be emphasized:
- Merveilles de la nature et beautés en France (Paris 1811; 9th Edition das. 1845);
- Les soirées d' hiver (3rd Aust 1833. German, Krefeld 1831);
- Voyages d'un étudiant dans les cinq parties du monde (1822, 2 Tle );
- La Grèce (1823, 4 vols );
- La Suisse ( 2nd edn 1824, 4 vols );
- Histoire des maritimes expéditions of Normand et de leur établissement en France au siècle X. (1826, 2 vols, 2nd edition 1844; German, Hamburg 1829);
- Histoire du commerce entre l' Europe et le Levant depuis les croisades jusqu'à la fondation des colonies d' Amérique (1832, 2 vols );
- Memoirs of the life of Germans in Paris "( Leipzig, 1832);
- Les juifs dans le moyen âge, (1834, new ed 1844, German, Stuttgart, 1834 );
- History of the War of Munster and Cologne against Holland 1672-74 (Münster 1840).
He also continued Liquets Histoire de la Normandie (Rouen 1835, 2 vols ) continued and edited for the collection of historical documents, the oldest statutes of the trades of the city of Paris (1837 ) and a compilation of the most important related to the state administration of Louis XIV procedural documents (1850 -55, 4 vols ). His first published in 1817 collection of Spanish romances appeared in a second edition under the title: Romancero castellano ( Leipzig. 1844, 2 vols, Vol 3 by F. Wolf, 1846).
