Georges Rayet

Georges Antoine Pons Rayet ( born December 12, 1839 in Bordeaux, † June 14, 1906 ) was a French astronomer.

Rayet worked first in 1863 at the Paris Observatory. In 1878 he founded the Observatoire de Bordeaux and led it until his death. According to him, the Wolf -Rayet stars are named. He was a corresponding member of the Académie des sciences.
