Gerald Hamer

Gerald Hamer, native Earl Geoffrey Watton, ( born November 16, 1886 in South Wales, England; † July 6, 1972 in Hollywood, California, USA ) was an English theater and film actor, screenwriter and editor.

Life

Gerald Hamer stepped over decades as a professional actor in England and also had film appearances in the British film scene. Only in 1935 moved Hamer from England to Hollywood, where he mostly played in his films as a Briton. He made his debut in a non -mentioned uncredited role in the musical Swing Time with Fred Astaire. His most famous roles he played in the Sherlock Holmes series with Basil Rathbone, in which he appeared a total of five times. It is worth noting especially his role as the psychopathic actor in the claw.

Gerald Hamer, 1966 was his last television appearances, died at the age of 85 from a heart attack. His son Robert Hamer (1911-1963) was director.
